The pressures and problems of modern life often tempt us to turn to drugs or alcohol. Providing a temporary escape, substances alleviate stress, and in the short term, help us cope better. However, this comes at a price.

When consumed over a prolonged period, drugs and alcohol give way to addictions. Developing this dependence affects not only the individual suffering but their loved ones too. For this very reason, securing help for addiction is vital.

One of the best ways to prevent an addiction from escalating is obtaining professional treatment, such as therapy. At Tulip Hill, our team of experienced professionals, including our six master-level clinicians, psychiatric nurse practitioner, and psychiatrist, are all experienced in providing a range of therapies.

What Is Dual Diagnosis?

Substance abuse comes hand-in-hand with many physical and psychological consequences. Among said consequences is impaired mental health.

Additionally, much research determines that mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), drive substance abuse. In other words, people with mental health conditions may turn to drugs or alcohol to relieve constant psychological pain, thus developing substance dependence.

To ensure that appropriate treatment is provided, at Tulip Hill, we take both conditions into account when treating our clients.

Treatments Offer by Tulip Hill

At Tulip Hill, we offer several therapies to help with mental disorders, each suited for a particular condition. Below, we share an overview of our five common therapy methods:

Family Therapy

A family unit supports and protects its members; it provides love and courage and celebrates those all-important moments throughout life. At the same time, families can be the catalyst for many problems a person faces throughout their lifetime.

Family dysfunction can occur for a number of reasons, such as a financial crisis or the death of a loved one. Sadly, family dysfunction leaves many people prone to traumas or substance abuse. When this happens, family therapy is a procedure that addresses dilemmas within the family context and helps members resolve their issues.

At Tulip Hill, we offer a three-phase family therapy program that helps our clients address the factors that may have contributed to their addiction.

One to One Therapy

One-to-one therapy includes psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, individual therapy, talk therapy, and counseling.

One of the most familiar types of therapy, during one-to-one therapy, an individual sits with a therapist to discuss and address the underlying issues that a client may have. Lasting for approximately forty-five to sixty minutes, these sessions enable many to create practical solutions.

Group Therapy

Group therapy sees individuals gather for sessions with one or more therapists. During these sessions, those in attendance are encouraged to talk about and share their problems with other members.

This particular type of therapy is usually completed within phase two of our programs. During this time, clients participate in group therapy for thirty days.

Although participating in group therapy is daunting for many, doing so helps those in recovery develop communication skills and learn how to be a problem-solver.

Complementary Therapy

Complementary or alternative therapies are also available at our center. These particular therapies work to relieve stress and help people relax. In recent years, studies have been conducted on their safety and effectiveness, showing positive results.

At Tulip Hill, we take advantage of the benefits that acupuncture, equine therapy, art therapy, and many other complementary treatments offer. We also have a yoga instructor to help patients transition to a healthy life conveniently and comfortably.

Experiential Therapies

This form of therapy helps clients confront their problems through a series of activities and tools such as role-playing, music, and arts and crafts. They all aim to help the client reconstruct distressing memories.

As the client engages in these activities under professional guidance, they come to understand their problem better. In turn, they can develop strategies that essentially help them cope in the future. This form of therapy can benefit clients with emotional burden issues since the activities provide an excellent opportunity for relief.

What to Expect

Depending on your mental health issues, you may require certain clinical services during your journey.

At Tulip Hill, we offer two types of clinical services. These include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. Our specialists will determine the most suitable plan for you based on your current condition and the long-term objectives you’ve set for yourself.

Irrespective of the service offered, you can rest assured that you’ll receive the help and medications you need with either service. Here is a brief overview of these two services.

  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP): This thirty-day treatment is usually used for people suffering from substance abuse or alcoholism. Remaining primarily at home during PHP treatment, clients attend the facility five days a week for three hours in the morning during the second phase of intensive outpatient treatment. Clients receive various treatments to help them cope with their problems, such as group therapy, skill-building, or individual therapy. This type of therapy is cheaper than an inpatient hospital stay and is suitable for those who cannot remain within a center.
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP): Extremely popular, IOP is another form of treatment. Clients remain at home and go about their usual activities during this treatment while occasionally attending our center for treatment. IOP has two phases; phase one includes completing group therapy five days a week, while phase two includes completing group therapy three days a week.

Addiction is life-changing, and the consequences go far beyond the affected person. Therefore, it’s tragic when someone in need of professional treatment cannot secure it due to financial hardship.

At Tulip Hill, we offer a variety of programs. Each of our programs aims to maximize your options and help you obtain appropriate treatment in line with your circumstances and financial means.

Though just as effective, our outpatient therapy fees are much lower than regular inpatient treatment. Most health insurance companies will cover the cost of the treatments offered at our institute.

If you don't have insurance, we have several payment plans available to provide the support and care you need on an affordable basis.
