What To Expect

What to Expect

Taking the first step toward recovering from addiction can be a scary one if you’ve never done it before or if you’ve tried a program that didn’t help. At Tulip Hill Recovery, we don’t believe in a cookie-cutter approach toward helping people recover from addiction. We strive to care for each client as a valued individual who has their own unique story, struggles and brighter future waiting to be unlocked.

The Recovery Process

Recovering from addiction involves more than detoxing or cutting yourself off. It requires the attention of medical professionals who can diagnose and treat the mental health issues surrounding your addiction, while providing the correct path for helping you overcome dependency on alcohol or substances.

We emphasize a holistic approach to treating addiction and the challenges of mental health while promoting healthy habits and coping mechanisms that you’ll need to maintain a life of sobriety and freedom.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

PHP is traditionally a 30-day treatment model. During this time, our team of clinical and medical professionals provide daily care and 24/7 supervision to help you effect positive changes in your struggle with alcohol or substance abuse.

PHP is more than hours of clinical sessions and therapy. It includes many programs designed to help you prevent relapse and cope with mental health disorders, including:

  • Relapse prevention
  • Coping skills
  • Life skills
  • Yoga/mindfulness
  • Psychoeducation
  • Family of origin
  • Trauma-specific group
  • Recreational therapy
  • Nutrition

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

After completing PHP, the next step is to help you transition into a more normal daily lifestyle. This takes place through 60 days of intensive outpatient (IOP).

IOP typically takes place in two phases: an initial 30 days of five days of treatment and then another 30 days of three days of treatment. The goal during both phases is to provide individualized therapeutic care, group therapy and case management services as continued support and accountability to those in recovery.

For some, it may be fitting to begin treatment with IOP rather than going through PHP first.Others may need IOP for longer than 60 days. Our clinicians work closely with you and provide assessments to assist you in finding the correct level of care.

Our residencies include separate sober living environments for male and female clients. This transitional living allows our residents to build a network of like minded supports with similar goals which can become the foundation for long-term recovery. 24/7 staff provides a resource to our residents for guidance after clinical hours.

After Recovery

Recovery is a lifelong journey. Once you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, you are either always living in addiction or always living in recovery. Our goal is to help you achieve a life of the latter in which you are more equipped to cope with mental health disorders and live free of addiction.

After completing PHP and IOP, you should be able to live more independently, but this doesn’t mean you are alone. Our team does our best to make sure you are equipped for going back into the world. Our staff and our alumni members can help you in many ways, including:

  • Job training
  • Resume reviews
  • Transportations to interviews and to work
  • Assistance in building life skills

You always have community at Tulip Hill Recovery. If you are ever struggling with your condition or need to talk to somebody, we’re always here for you.

"This program did more than save my life, it gave me one worth living. Through working with the clinical team as well as the rest of the staff I was able to find the things that were getting in the way of me living a drug-free life. The structure of the program helped lay the groundwork for my new life by creating a healthy routine and motivating me to put action towards bettering myself. Thanks to Tulip Hill Recovery's staff and their efforts to help me begin my new life, I’ve been inspired to give back by working with others suffering from substance abuse."
