What to Bring to Treatment

At Tulip Hill, we place great emphasis on the environment you spend your recovery in.

As a family-owned treatment center, we understand the benefits of home comforts and familiar surroundings.

We take a dual diagnosis approach to treatment. As a result, you will receive top-quality care for underlying mental health conditions and substance addiction during your stay with us, should it be needed.

In addition, we offer a range of treatment models to each individual’s circumstances - this includes residential options for those who need around-the-clock support.

Treatment Without Boundaries

At Tulip Hill, we believe that every individual should be able to access substance addiction treatment.

When you embark on your recovery journey, we aim to ease any stress you may encounter as much as possible. We don’t want you to feel any pressure to arrange specific items ahead of your stay with us. Instead, we hope you will view the center as a home-away-from-home with all the comforts and necessities you need.

To help you prepare for treatment, we have outlined a list of items that we will provide for you during your time in our center. We have also shared what you will need to bring.

What We Provide

At Tulip Hill, we recognize the uniqueness of every client and their situation. For this very reason, we provide our clients with an exclusive treatment plan.

Throughout your time in our rehab center, your needs will remain at the forefront of everything we do. We will monitor your progress and adapt your program to reflect your growth.

Usually, the first stage of treatment involves partial hospitalization. This is an intensive inpatient program where you will participate in clinical sessions and receive holistic support.

What To Bring

There are some items you will need to bring with you to the inpatient phase of your treatment. Below, we have shared the necessities.

Comfortable Clothing

We believe that every individual has the freedom to dress as they wish, so long as it isn’t offending or insulting to others. When considering which clothes to bring with you, we recommend the following:

  • Seven days’ worth of clothes that are adaptable to different temperatures
  • Comfortable nightclothes
  • Clothes that cover an adequate amount of the body
  • Clothes you can move or do light exercise in

We would ask you not to bring any clothing that references anything related to drugs or gangs. We would also ask you not to pack any clothes that feature offensive descriptions.

Books for Reading and Writing

Our inpatient treatment is an intensive process. Most of your time in our center will be spent absorbing the knowledge and tools provided to assist your recovery. As you progress through treatment, you will be required to reflect on your treatment.

Though we understand you may have your preferences, some people find this easiest by writing notes or journaling.

You can also bring the following:

  • A notebook or journal
  • A novel or interesting biography
  • A sketchbook

Home Comforts

Having some familiar personal items during your stay can help keep you on the right track. If you usually complete crosswords, for example, or you find sketching a soothing pastime, we encourage you to bring these items with you to occupy any time outside of sessions.

We also welcome you to bring the following home comforts with you:

  • Sketchbook or coloring books
  • Photos or photo albums

Toiletries

When thinking about which toiletries and hygiene products to pack, there are some important things to be aware of. All products must be sealed and unopened, and products must not contain alcohol.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of toiletries you might consider bringing:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm
  • Soaps and moisturizers
  • Sanitary products

Documents

As you enter our center and commence treatment, we may require several documents from you. For this very reason, it is helpful to bring a folder containing the following:

  • A form of identification, for example, a driver’s license or a passport
  • Health insurance card
  • A prescription card

Prescription Medicine

If you require or take any prescription medication, you must bring them with you to our center. You must also make us aware of the medication you need. Please also ensure that you have the following to hand:

  • Medication in its original packaging
  • A list of the prescription medication
  • A document outlining dosages for each medicine

It is important to note that not all prescription medication will be compatible with the treatment you receive at our center. Therefore we may not administer your regular prescriptions.

Though this may seem daunting, during your time in our center, we take your well-being into the greatest consideration when we make these decisions. While it may feel difficult at first, you can be assured that we want the best outcome for you.

What Not to Bring

Our center is a safe and friendly environment that strives to equally serve everybody who walks through our doors. We want all of our clients to feel comfortable and make the most of the treatment services available.

At Tulip Hill, we have a list of items that are prohibited from entering our rehab. These include:

  • Drug or alcohol-related products
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Aerosol items
  • Open medications
  • Food and drink
  • Weapons, knives, or blades
