What to Bring to Addiction Treatment

Home Resources What to Bring to Treatment

At Tulip Hill, we offer a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to long-term recovery. As a family-owned treatment center, we understand the benefits of home comforts and familiar surroundings. Additionally, we understand that treatment can be daunting and know you might have uncertainties. In order to ease your mind, we have comprised a list of what we recommend you bring to addiction treatment, what we provide, and what items are prohibited. Given that we want your only focus to be on recovery, it is our goal to help you feel as prepared as possible for our treatment programs in Tennessee.

What We Provide

We recognize the uniqueness of every client and their situation. For this very reason, we provide our clients with an exclusive treatment plan. Throughout your time in our rehab center, your needs will remain at the forefront of everything we do. We will monitor your progress and adapt your program to reflect your growth.

Additionally, we believe that every individual should be able to access addiction treatment. When you embark on your recovery journey, we aim to ease any stress you may encounter as much as possible. We don’t want you to feel any pressure to arrange a bunch of items ahead of your stay with us. Instead, we hope you will view the center as a home-away-from-home with all the comforts you need. That being said, you will need to bring some necessities. Also, we understand you will want to bring some of your own recreational items and encourage you to do so.

What to Bring to Addiction Treatment in Tennessee

There are some items you will need to bring with you to the inpatient phase of your treatment. Below, we have shared the necessities and recommended materials.

Comfortable Clothing

We believe that every individual has the freedom to dress as they wish, as long as it isn’t offensive or insulting to others. Furthermore, we ask you not to bring any clothing that references drug, alcohol, or gang-related content. When considering which clothes to bring with you, we recommend the following:

  • Seven days worth of clothes that are adaptable to different temperatures
  • Comfortable nightclothes
  • Clothes that cover an adequate amount of the body
  • Clothes you can move or do light exercise in

Books for Reading and Writing

Our inpatient treatment is an intensive process. Most of your time in our center will be spent absorbing the knowledge and tools provided to assist your recovery. As you progress through treatment, you will be required to reflect on your recovery. Though we understand you may have your preferences, some people find this easiest by writing notes or journaling. Therefore, you can also bring the following:

  • Notebooks
  • Journals
  • Novels
books with a phone as well as pen and paper

Home Comforts

Having some familiar personal items during your stay can help keep you remain on the right track. For example, if you usually complete crosswords or you find sketching a soothing pastime, we encourage you to bring these items with you to occupy any time outside of sessions. Home comforts include:

  • Sketchbooks
  • Coloring books
  • Photos or photo albums

Toiletries

When thinking about which toiletries and hygiene products to pack, there are some important things to be aware of. All products must be sealed and unopened. Additionally, products must not contain alcohol. Below is a non-exhaustive list of toiletries you might consider bringing:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm
  • Soaps and moisturizers
  • Sanitary products

Documents

As you enter our center and begin treatment, we may require several documents from you. For this very reason, it is helpful to bring a folder containing the following:

  • A form of identification (driver’s license or a passport)
  • Health insurance card
  • Prescription card

Prescription Medication

If you require or take any prescription medication, you may bring them with you to our center. You must also make us aware of the medication you need. Additionally, please be sure to bring the following:

  • Medication in its original packaging
  • A list of the prescription medication
  • A document outlining dosages for each medicine

It is important to note that not all prescription medication will be compatible with the treatment you receive at our center. Therefore, we may not administer your regular prescriptions. Though this may seem daunting, we take your well-being into the greatest consideration as we want the best outcome for you.
