Medical Detox and Stabilization
For some people, recovery begins with medically supervised detoxification. Alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and certain prescription medications may cause significant or dangerous withdrawal symptoms when use is suddenly reduced or stopped.
Detox can help a person reach physical stability, but it does not address the behavioral, emotional, or environmental factors associated with addiction. Continued treatment after stabilization is an important part of reducing relapse risk and building a stronger recovery foundation.
